Fast Reminder

You would think an old drummer would be able to keep his heart in rhythm.  Not so, I am told that I have Afib which means that my heart is beating out of rhythm, so last Tuesday morning, instead of communicating with you all I went into the hospital to get my heart shocked back into rhythm.  Praise God, the paddles worked and things are working normal again.  Cost me a couple of days getting over being under.

Wigglesworth said a couple of days ago in his book, “God wants us to enter into the rest of faith.  He desires us to have all confidence in Him.  He purposes that His Word will be established in our hearts; and, as we believe His word, we will see that ‘all things are possible’ (Matt. 19:26)”.

My friend, Tom Draffin used the story of Esther and Mordecai to remind us that we are in the midst of a seismic conflict involving good versus evil and that like Esther we need to stand up (or kneel down) in prayer for times such as these that our nation like Esther’s may be spared.  Read Esther, chapter 4 for the story .

God must have known that I needed strength recently as He surrounded me with a great cloud of witnesses.  Another friend and fellow minister, David Livingston went in yesterday for a hernia repair and I sat with another pastor all day waiting for him to come out.  Both powerful men of God.  Then another friend and pastor from Indiana, Jeff Hurtgen came to town and had dinner with Peggy and me last night.  He and his wife Mary will be joining us tonight for our LIFE meeting.

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:1-2.  As Mordecai said, “and who knows whether you have not obtained royalty for such a time as this?”  (Esther 4:13-14)  As we pray and fast tomorrow let’s remember to seek God, for His Presence, His Purpose, and His Power.

L.I.F.E. meets tonight at 7:00 to continue to study Paul’s admonition to Timothy and us.  We will have communion tonight and hope that you can join us.

May God bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you…Jim
