All Aboard!

All Aboard!

In 1829,  George Stephenson, a mechanical engineer invented the steam locomotive.  He showed it to his wife, Mary, who exclaimed, “ George, it will never go”  He convinced her finally,  asking her to come aboard and let’s try.  With a puff of steam and a blast from the whistle, it moved and continued to go until she exclaimed, “George it will never stop.” Amen!

I was reminded of God’s Holy Spirit.  Has God blessed you?  Are you holding back from a complete commitment to Jesus?

God’s train starts in a life with a rumble and a groan (reluctance).    Mr. Newton gave us the law of inertia,  once an object is set in motion it will remain in motion until it is acted on from an outside source.  My friend Sidney could tell us much more about this.  When the Holy Spirit is invited in to run your train it starts with a puff of smoke, a blast from the whistle, and with inertia, we keep moving through life.

We studied proverbs 3:5-6 last week and were reminded to trust and obey for there’s no other way.

This week I was led to share Psalm 15, I had trouble with verse 4 (keeping your promises even when it hurts), so I read it in the NLT which explained its meaning.  David was writing here to explain who will be allowed in the sanctuary to worship God.

In my humble opinion, the only way to accomplish this kind of life is to be filled /baptized in God’s  Holy Spirit.  In Acts 5 we learn about Ananias and Sapphira who held back from a total commitment to God.  Not healthy!

Time is short, we need to be putting our priorities in order.  Please join us Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Agape Chapel for further discussion of these powerful scriptures.

Reminder for those of us who fast on Wednesday, and invitation for anyone to join us tonight.

May God bless you and keep you, Jim
