Good morning everyone. This note will serve as a reminder of our fast tomorrow and our meeting tonight at 7.
Last week we began a study of 2 Timothy chapter 3, where Paul continues to instruct young Timothy about how to handle the unruly people in Ephesus. This is the last letter from Paul before he completely losses his head over the Gospel. Maybe that is why he unloads in this letter, his admonition here about the people under Timothy hit a cord with me about where we are right here in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power”…WOW, Paul tells Tim to turn away from such people.
Many scholars have written that we are in the last days, if these are the things we can expect of people then I would agree, we are in them.
I am called to be a servant and a shepherd to try to help and lead people out of these disastrous attributes.
Is it time for us to point out things to the ones we love? Is it time for churches to preach the truth about one way tickets to hell?
Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. Please let us stand up and proclaim this fact in the face of persecution.
