Prayer

Someone said to me recently, “I prayed and nothing happened, so I moved on”.  I am usually a little morose and very prayerful as Memorial Day approaches.  I lost an uncle at Guadalcanal in WW2 and many of my peers in Vietnam.  Many, many who gave their all that we might live free.  And as we approached this somber time we have to deal with another massacre of children in Texas; Also the senseless death of a Christian family in our community in a horrific boating accident.  My only defense for the overwhelming and heavy thoughts of these facts is prayer.  Smith Wigglesworth said in yesterday’s reading, “Prayer links us to our lovely God.”  Amen!

Sometimes I wonder what He is thinking when I see the state of our world and our nation (a nation under God”)  Invariably He sends me back to 2 Chronicles 7:14, if we (His people) will humble (obey) ourselves, turn from our evil ways, and pray, He will heal our land.  Prayer is communion with God, engage in it as never before!  I love the promises of God!

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.”  Psalm 46.

Let this be a reminder to those of us who fast tomorrow and also a reminder that LIFE meets tonight at 7.  We will continue in the book of Isaiah, chapters 2-5 which are amazingly poignant for our current times in the world.  Please join us if you can.

PRAY PRAY PRAY PRAY AND THEN PRAY SOME MORE!
