Passion Week

Please join me in prayer tomorrow as we fast and pray for our crazy world but also those we love to know Jesus more intimately.  I read two things this morning that I must share.  The first is from 1 Corinthians 8:1-3 and then my friend Smith chimes in with a closer.

Paul said to the Corinthians: “Now concerning things offered to idols; We know that we all have knowledge.  Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.  And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.  But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.”

Smith Wigglesworth says, “Fellowship, purity, unity – these things reflect a living cooperation in which we are being changed from faith to faith.  May the Lord grant to you this thought today: How may I more and more abandon myself from any earthly, human fellowship, until I am absolutely so bound to God that God has the right -of-way to the throne of my heart, until the center of my emotions is blessedly purified, until there is no room for anything except the Son of God, who is the Author and Finisher of faith (Heb. 12:2)?  Then Christ will be manifested in your flesh, destroying everything that is outside of Him.”

I don’t think it is too much of a stretch to identify anything except the Son of God in our lives as the idols Paul is talking about.  What a perfect season to focus on the fact that Jesus rose from the dead to show us the way to eternal life and that He is coming again for His followers, maybe morning, maybe noon, maybe evening, and maybe soon.  As we were told long ago, be ready in season and out.

I just turned 79 last week and I thought I had it all together only to be shown that I had some very big changes to make in my life.  Praise God for love that was willing to show me the error of my ways and help me to deal with the problem areas.  We all have our idols!  Now is the time to admit it and deal with them!  Praise God!

LIFE does not meet tonight as it is the 5th Tuesday.  We will gather for communion and study on the 5th of April which is the Easter celebration in Canada and UK.

May God bless you and keep you this week as we reflect on the idols in our lives.
