fasting prayer

Good morning all!  Many of you know but for those who don’t, I want to explain something.  I was a worship leader for 30 +years and I praise and worship a lot in my time before the Lord.  I feel like I am in good company when I read about Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25 which is well worth a re-read.  They were in prison for preaching in the name of Jesus, singing hymns, and praying.  Suddenly the prison doors were opened via an earthquake and everyone was afraid and asking how to be saved, even the guards. Which of course gave Paul the opportunity to preach the gospel right there in the prison and many were saved.  As Ron Carpenter said yesterday, “you can’t go wrong in praising God!”

So as we prepare to fast tomorrow I want to share one of my favorite hymns.

“Shine Jesus, Shine

Fill this land with the Father’s glory

Blaze, Spirit, blaze

Set our hearts on fire

Flow, river, flow

Flood the nations with grace and mercy

Send forth Your word

Lord and let there be light.”

That is just the refrain, you can look up the entire lyrics on the computer and join me tomorrow as we fast and pray,  to make this our prayer.

The first verse is full of hope for this world consumed by evil, saying the light of Your love is shining in the midst of the darkness. And ends with Shine on me!

God gave us this great encouragement in 2010 through Graham Kendrick, I think for times such as these.

May God bless you and keep you, Jim
