Water

I am sure you all remember the story of the Samaritan woman who was at the well as Jesus passed through.  He was looking for a way to witness to her so He asked for a drink of water.  She was incredulous at the prospect of an obvious Jew asking her for water, and He told her that if she knew whom she was dealing with she would be asking Him for a drink of living water.  He knew she was seeking but as the song says she was looking for love in all the wrong places.  She had already had tried five husbands and was shacking up with number six and apparently had not found the peace she was seeking.  Can you identify with her?  I can, I tried every well in the Washington DC area for 10 years trying to find something for the emptiness in my stomach.  They were not water wells but you get the picture.  I love the song from John 4:14; Like the woman at the well I was seeking for things that could not satisfy; and then I heard my Savior speaking: Draw from My well that never shall run dry.  Fill my cup, Lord – I lift it up, Lord!  Come and quench this thirsting of my soul; Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more – fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.!!!  Brothers and sisters, I am persuaded that there are many who can remember the pain of seeking to no avail for something to satisfy your soul.  Praise God…but Jesus!  He came and offered us a drink from the well that never runs dry, that is completely satisfying.  And set us on a course of obedience to His word that has saved our lives and prepared us for eternal life.  My heart burns for many whom I know who are still seeking in vain for a purpose and completeness in their lives.  The woman said that Jesus didn’t have a bucket, but He did and He gave it to us.  His Holy Spirit,  and we are tasked with drawing water from the never ending well and sharing it with those who are still seeking.  Let’s pray this week for the courage to speak the word of this song to those who have not found the answer.  Amen!

There is no Life meeting tonight as it is the 5th Tuesday and due to my surgery on Friday I have asked George to handle the meeting on 5th in case I am not ready.

God Bless
