As we fast and pray tomorrow please keep our nation in your prayer.
In 1787 as Benjamin Franklin was leaving the close of the Constitutional Convention he was asked what kind of government we were to have.
He replied, “a republic if you can keep it” Never has that meant so much to me as in these days. Why did he answer this way?
It requires the constant attention and devotion of all citizens. It really is up to us to maintain control as we are given the right and responsibility to vote our choices.
Several years ago I created a bumper sticker that says, Christians! Pray and Vote. That is more important than ever! I am told that in the last several elections we (Christians) stayed home. I have children, grandchildren, and grandchildren that I love dearly and desperately desire to see this great nation which God founded to stay free so that they might worship Jesus as they chose. Yep, I trust God and I also believe that He gave us choice as He made us in His image. With that choice comes the responsibility to manage what He has given us and obey His commands. I have heard a lot of griping lately about our government and in just 14 days we have the privilege to do something about it. Please don’t squander it! Read the positions of the candidates and see if they agree with your values. Don’t rely on the talking heads on TV to tell you what to believe, you the know the Truth and it will set you free if you exercise your right. Educate yourself and stand with God on Micah 6:8, “He has shown thee o man what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly (do what is right according to His word), to love Mercy (Hesed, which means loving-kindness, Grace, love, loyalty and faithfulness), and to walk humbly with your God? (not challenging God…OBEY)”
