Sorry about missing you last week, but we had a marvelous time ministering in the mountains of GA. Today I want to reminisce a bit as we plan to fast and pray tomorrow. Remember the sons of Sceva in the book of Acts, chapter 19? They had watched the disciples perform miracles in the name of Jesus and wanted to do likewise for their own reasons. They went out and tried to run off a demon residing in someone and got the stuffing beat of themselves by a demon who said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” The purpose of Pentecost is to reestablish God in human flesh. The power of the Holy Spirit has to come to be enthroned in the human life so that it does not matter where we find ourselves…..so saith Smith Wigglesworth. He goes on, Christ is manifest in the place where devils are, the place where religious devils are, the place where false religion and unbelief are, the place where formal religion has taken the place of holiness and righteousness.
What these boys were missing was the unseen power, the power of the Holy Spirit which Jesus imparted to the believers so that His work could be carried on. If we want to come against these strong holds in “church” today we need to make sure that we have received the Baptism from Jesus of His Spirit or it could be very dangerous as there are powers in high places that do not want to be extricated. Don’t be sons of Sceva; get the power that is freely given, get the power of the Holy Spirit in your life.
It is only when you are conquered by Christ that He is enthroned. God bless you!
