Praise God

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!!!!  Last night I was blessed to see what some are calling the Bethlehem Star.  I know that for many it is with heavy hearts we approach the celebration of our Saviors birth this week in this most amazing year.  For the first time in 800 years, we have been blessed to see what is purported as the star that rested over the infant Jesus.  God knows when His children are hurting.  Around 742 BC (the year Uzziah died) God called a man named Isaiah to warn the people about obeying Him and the way they were living.  Isaiah spent around 60 years trying to tell the people to change and the good news of the coming savior around 800 years out.  In the 9th chapter of his book he tells them of the coming savior and gives them the immortal words, “For unto us a child is born, a son is given.  The government will rest on His shoulders and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  His government and its peace will never end.”

And the people all heard his preaching and changed their ways and lived happily ever after. Not then and not now!  God’s covenant was then and is now, “I will be your God and you will be my people.”  If we are to walk in this agreement we need to start acknowledging that He is our God and we need to start living like we are His people.  As we celebrate this week the historical entrance of God Himself in the flesh (Immanuel) into the world let’s focus on what Paul said, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”  God is Love as many have said and we should be focused on spreading it amidst the vitriol abounding around us.  Memorize 1 John 4:7-8 and began to live these words and the world will change.    Praise God – Merry Christmas!!!!

I know fasting at this time of year is difficult but I will try to do so tomorrow along with all of you.

Life does not meet tonight, may God bless you and keep you, Jim
