Tonight we will be in 1 John again and might get to one of my favorite scripture songs. 4:7-8, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God for God is love.”
I encountered someone this week who is very hard to love. He provoked me to anger and I let him know it. He presented himself as a man of God when I knew and he knew that he was lying to my face and not standing by his word. I repented and praise God got forgiveness but the sting of my anger stays with me. Sometimes we will encounter those who make it hard to live by this wonderful scripture but I understand that I must practice righteousness and not sin. I am still practicing to walk in the light as He is in the light. Tomorrow as we fast and pray let us remember each other in love as we seek God’s forgiveness and eternal favor out of our love. The entire book of 1 John is about love and how Jesus’ love should show us how to love the Kingdom of God and not the kingdom of this world. Amen, let’s love, Jim
