Forgiveness

I want to remind us of something that I included in my new book which was just published.
“Hurts don’t simply go away. Time does not heal resentment or “all wounds”, and just trying harder doesn’t compensate for guilt. Consider these admonitions from the Bible.
1. Unresolved Anger – Anger, bitterness and resentment require forgiveness, “let all bitterness and wrath and clamor and slander be put away from you….forgive each other…Ephesians 4:31-32.
2. Unconfessed Guilt – Unconfessed guilt from either active or passive retaliation (cold shoulder, silent treatment, withholding intimacy) requires confession. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us.” 1 John 1:9. “Confess your faults one to another and pray for one another that you may be healed.” James 5:16.
Forgiveness is an issue of stewardship (management or care); first we receive God’s forgiveness and then we are challenged to share it with others.
Let’s try to remember these admonitions and come to the throne with a clean heart. Remember the prayers of righteous men and women will make the difference in the world. Bless you!
