Fasting and Praying

In addition to our normal reasons for fasting tomorrow, I am aware of a very practical reason also.  I pray everyone is anticipating as I am the delights of family gatherings and abundance of wonderful eats coming Thursday.  Peggy spent all day yesterday preparing and cooking a massive amount of collards and made me sample them before she stored them in the freezer, what an appetite teaser.  God has me reading large amounts of scripture lately and it is difficult to figure out what He wants me to write about this morning, but one thing I am hearing clearly.  What is happening in the news is not the news we need to be focused on.  So to help me and maybe you refocus on the important issues let me share just one of my scriptures from this week.  1 John 5: 1-5.  “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.  By this, we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.  And His commandments are not burdensome.  For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.  Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

We’ve been made more than conquerors; overcomers in this life, we’ve been made victorious through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:28 for us not to fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.  But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Rejoice and be thankful this week because of Him and what He has done for you.  Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

LIFE does not meet tonight.
